Welcome.......
The Community Sports Trust is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company set up to deliver lasting improvements to grassroots sport. We support a range of partners to deliver projects that increase participation in sport. Our projects get local people involved in planning, coaching, leading and organising sport for the whole community. We can help your organisation to find funding, recruit and deploy high quality staff, deliver excellent sports opportunities, and demonstrate the lasting legacy of sports development work in local communities.
The Community Sports Trust manages community-based sports development projects. Our flagship initiative is the Derbyshire Village Games. This innovative project’s aim is simple - we want people of all ages and abilities in villages across the county to get active. Our network of Village Games Officers work at grassroots level delivering sport on the doorstep.
Inspired by the 2012 Olympics, our vision is to create a lasting legacy by encouraging local people to take part in a range of activities from rounders to t’ai chi. Our belief is it’s never too early to start and never too late to give it a go. We run family-based adventure days through to chair-based exercise classes for the elderly.
Key to our success is recruiting qualified staff who listen to what local people want and help them set-up and run classes, training sessions and activity days. We can provide support with quality coaching and project management.
Our VGOs are backed up by a five member Board of Directors with a wealth of experience in sports development and consultancy and a proven track record of working with partners like Sport England and the Olympics. That expertise is backed up by a solid background in funding and finance.
The CST is a not-for-profit community interest company. That means any assets we have or money we make is ploughed back into the communities we work in. We’re regulated by the government to make sure everything we do is for the benefit of local people.
We passionately believe the Village Games model of delivering grassroots sport has the potential to be rolled out across the country. We're also working with sports organisations, local councils and funding bodies to develop ground-breaking new partnerships to encourage even more people to get involved in sport.
If you’d like to talk to us about what we can do for your community, please contact us. If you're a journalist wanting to find out more about we do, arrange interviews or get images, please contact our PR officer, Lissa Cook.
