Derbyshire Village Games is a highly visible, accessible community spirited sport project across rural Derbyshire. It uses inter village competition, festivals and events to encourage people to participate in sport and recreation. It is the catalyst to a programme of club development, coach development and volunteer recruitment, and builds village identity and social interaction.

Derbyshire Village Games Co-ordinators are working with 50 villages each year across rural Derbyshire between 2010 and 2013. They support communities to develop coaching, clubs, festivals and competitions. As part of our London 2012 legacy work, there will be Village Games events and Olympic-nics across the County.

If you would like to organise your own Village Games, there's a great toolkit and an event checklist that you can use. Contact your Village Games Co-ordinator too. You will be able to use our website, branding, banners and publicity materials, and we could help with marketing, funding and equipment.
