A UNIQUE way of promoting Chinley’s first ever Village Games has been provided by the community’s uniformed groups.

They used their recent well dressing to advertise the event which takes place this Saturday, July 16 with Molly Elizabeth Rider, a Chinley 1st Guide, creating the winning design.

Derbyshire Village Games project manager Hayley Lever said: “We hope lots of people will come along. We’re organising a huge range of fun, family-friendly activities to suit all ages and abilities.”

The games will kick-off with the village’s third annual mile-long fell race.

The family-friendly sports races and activities will start from 11am and include a mini-decathlon with events from welly-wanging and foam javelin to long-jump and beat the goalie.

At 12.30pm the Wacky Races include sack race, and egg and spoon race and at 1.30pm there’s a tug-of-war. For those who still have the energy there’ll be rounders in the afternoon.
