NE Derbyshire Netballers Aim Even Higher
The first North East Derbyshire Village Games tournament was such a hit that organiser Hayley Bramley’s already appealing for new teams for another competition in the New Year.
More than 80 ladies took part in the tournment held at Tibshelf Community School on Saturday 1st October 2011. and it was enjoyed by everyone. The weather reflected the warm and friendly atmosphere where a hub of ladies came together to play a sport they all love. The day was organised by Hayley Bramley the Village Games Coordinator for North East Derbyshire who said: “Everyone enjoyed themselves - the weather reflected the warm and friendly atmosphere with the ladies coming together to play a sport they love. The focus was on sportsmanship, fair play and healthy competition. The ladies showed brilliant skill, drive and determination throughout a very warm but enjoyable day.”
“It’s lovely to see so many people here to support and champion Netball but also to take part in events in their community, this will be the first of many social tournaments, not just Netball but a wide range of other activities too”.
A special thanks was given to Hayley, Keighley Wood and Ally Meddings for umpiring on the day and for making it such a success along with all the teams who turned up and participated.
After a gruelling competition the results were announced with Jesters from Clowne winning the Fair Team Award and they also came 7th, Harlequins from Clowne came 6th, Insight Dynamite from Chesterfield came 5th, Rowntree Randoms from Clay Cross came 4th, Tibshelf Titans came 3rd, Thunderducks from Chesterfield came 2nd and winning every game and putting in an excellent performance were Etwall Lions in first place.
