Have you got the drive, energy and enthusiasm to motivate your friends, neighbours and local businesses to get fitter, healthier and more active in the run up to the 2012 Games?

Derbyshire’s innovative rural grassroots sports ‘Village Games’ team is looking for Village Sports Activators in every village in Derbyshire to help us inspire people all over the county.

We need  enthusiastic volunteers to ‘activate’ their village, helping local people to get fit and have fun in the run up to the 2012 Games.  We’ve got funding, support and equipment available to help you harness the spirit of the Olympics and Paralympics.

Our team of Village Games Officers - based in every rural district - can give you a helping hand setting up activity days, Olympic-nics, torch relays and mini-decathlons to celebrate this once in a lifetime event.

Hayley Lever, Village Games Project Manager
said: “We are looking for people who are keen to organise activities themselves, but also people who can encourage and motivate others to get involved and take a lead.  In every village there are people who have the passion, skills and ability to organise a local village games activity to inspire and enthuse people”.

“There are many ways we can support them - through bursaries, funding for equipment, bunting and venue hire or medals and certificates for their events. We can also help them to apply for grants to bring funding in to support specific village projects”.
Ideas for events and activities include traditional Village Games competitions, such as a mini decathlon on the village green, “come and try it” days, bike rides, walks or a weekly exercise or sports class - anything to get people active!
For more information, or to put your name forward, visit and contact your local Village Games Co-ordinator, or phone 01663 751608 today!
