Celebrate the Olympics Outdoors, Outdoors Magic

Adventure sports journalist Nik Cook writes:  If you've got children, prying them away from their games consoles or the TV can be a real battle. Persuading them to join you on an all day hill tramps can be a step too far but a fun filled day of activities and events competing against their mates might just inspire them. We held the first Derbyshire Village Games in our village of Chinley last year and, despite torrential rain, it was a massive success. In this Olympic and Jubilee year, the format is being rolled out across the county.

A community sports project inspired by the Olympics to help people in rural areas get more active is calling on parents to use the 2012 Games as a reason to get their kids enjoying sports in the outdoors rather than sitting inside watching the world’s top athletes this summer.   Read full article in Outdoors Magic...
